Pulau Langkawi Daytrip

On some days you need to commit. After deciding that I will be leaving Penang for Phuket on Sunday, I went to book a flight to Thailand. The reason is really weird. If I am travelling to Thailand on a landbased method. I get a visa for 15 days. If I go by plane it will be 30 days. I definetely need to extend 15 days but 30 is enough. The visa extension costs me nearly a third of the plane ride. The bus another third of the plane ride. The question is: one hour flight or 10 hour bus, while the price difference is like 25 euro.

I am flying on Sunday.

After travelplanning I met Ed again. He sleeps in the dorm next door. We went out for dinner and had our first look at Georgetown. Eating at the hawkers market is always an experience and like a lotterie. Does my stomach take it or not.

We returned to our hostel and decided to have a beer. That's when we met the girls. The three canadians are the complete opposite to my actual way of travelling. They are on their yearly vacation and have like 14 days and every day counts. We went out for a few drinks and decided to make a daytrip to Langkawi on the next day.

Langkawi is one of the nicer islands in South East Asia with lots of nature and small white beaches. After getting up with not enough sleep at 6:30 in the morning. We went to the ferry. The three hour boat ride was really hard. All around me people where puking and vomiting. It was not funny anymore.

When we arrived in Langkawi we found out, that all tours have already left or where taking to much time. At least we wanted to be on the last ferry back to George Town. After discussing a few seconds we chartered our own boat for a three hour tour to selected spots at Langkawi.

On we went to a nature park, where we met loads of monkeys again and had a dip in the lake of the pregnant lady.

The ride back to Penang was uneventful. At my hostel I met Wes and Clint again. The two americans from the Cameron Highlands are sleeping in my dorm room for two nights.

All in all a nice day doing touristic stuff with great company.
